The Great HEA Event with @introvertedwife! #GreatHEAEvent

Ellen Mint isn’t only a great romance author, she also runs some of the best romance events I’ve seen. Her website will be linked at the end of this post, so make sure to bookmark it! Welcome, Ellen.

Thank you Rosanna for letting me stop in today to talk about what happily ever afters mean to me. I’m Ellen Mint and I like to write books that’ll race your heart and steam up your glasses.

If you make a promise, you damn well better keep it. That’s what a Happily Ever After is to me, a promise that no matter how much torture a couple is put through, in the end they can overcome and find peace together. It doesn’t have to be where everything is instantly perfect, and they can struggle through a serious mountain of cowplop to come together.

An HEA is as old as the legendary myths scrawled in cuniform across clay tablets. It didn’t matter how hard the kings, heroes, and demigods of old fought against their fate, in the end the prophecy came to pass. In many ways, the HEA is the classic tragedy flipped on its head. Regardless of what trials and tribulations the characters face, they will receive the happiness they toiled so hard for in the end.

As someone who’s a natural cynic, there’s a catharsis in the optimism of a happily ever after. Life might be an epic mess with no rhyme or reason, but fiction fights back against the chaos to remind us that sometimes there is a rainbow at the end of the storm. The HEA is the greatest weapon.

Rash & Rationality by Ellen Mint

Love is a lot closer and more complicated than Marty ever dreamed

$0.99 Sale July 20th-28th

Marty Dashwood is a true romantic. Hearts, chocolates, kisses on the hand—the whole nine yards. His killjoy brother Eldon doesn’t believe in love at first sight, but one day Marty will have the perfect meet-cute, she’ll fall helplessly in love with him and they’ll live happily ever after.

Brandy’s worked with Marty for almost two years. He’s the best friend she could ever have hoped for after the accident that took her husband. So she should be happy that Marty finally found what he’d always wanted, right?

So why does it feel like every time she sees Marty with the ‘Social-Media Angel’ he rescued from a mugger, a piece breaks off her heart? How can she explain any of this to him before she loses her best friend forever?

Rash and Rationality is a modern gender-swapped friends-to-lovers Sense & Sensibility, set in a cozy bookshop.

Ellen Mint adores the adorkable heroes who charm with their shy smiles and heroines that pack a punch. She recently won the Top Ten Handmaid’s Challenge on Wattpad where hers was chosen by Margaret Atwood herself. Along with her husband and black lab, she spends a lot of time with her skeletons — don’t worry, they’re just Halloween props.
